In December, we’ll sew up some festive holiday ornaments and stockings.
Appalachian Landscape with Diane Enger (This Class is Full)
In this class we will be creating a mosaic stepping stone using a 12" cement paver as our base. We will go over some of the basics on designing, prepping, and materials that can be used for a mosaic. This stone will be able to be outside in your garden, so we will be using an all-weather silicone glue that will need to cure for a week.

This workshop will feature the many dimensions of this vivid, versatile and nontoxic medium. Enjoy exploring a wide variety of techniques, including layering, line impression, texturing, burnishing, and value treatment.

Thursday Morning Painters
Please join us as we paint, in a comfortable setting, some of the beautiful locations in our region. We’ll meet on Thursday mornings at the Burke Arts Council and proceed to our painting site. The group will be led by Jane Best, local pastel artist and passionate Plein Air Painter. This is a group for all mediums and is free and open to the public. (You are responsible for your own project and lunch.)

Asheville artist Mary Farmer, working for 25+ years in encaustic, is blowing out her torch. To honor her time working in encaustic and to share her wisdom, Mary will teach a 3-day Intro-Intermediate class here at the Burke Arts Council.

Kathryn Regel Demo
Kathryn Regel will conduct a demo at the Burke Arts Council on Thursday, April 11 from 9AM. until Noon.
A native of Wisconsin, Kathryn earned a BA in Art from the University of Texas at Dallas, and ten years ago, Kathryn and her husband relocated to North Carolina.
Luck O’ the Irish with Lara Hicks
Test your luck with us as we make corned beef, buttered cabbage, and Irish soda bread! As corned beef takes quite a while to prepare, there will already be stages completed but you’ll see how easy it can be to make for yourself to enjoy on St. Patrick’s Day or for good old Reuben sandwiches whenever you like!
Event Three
In this class, the students will learn the basics of glass-cutting and grinding, and how to create a beautiful glass mosaic. By the end of the day, all students should have a basic working knowledge of how glass artists have created mosaics for centuries. Students not finishing their own piece by the end of the class will be given specific, easy instructions on how to finish it at home. This course is designed for beginners, but all skill levels are invited to join us that day.
