History of the
Piedmont Painters
April 30–June 29, 2024
Meet the Artists Reception:
Friday, May 17, 5:30–7:30PM
Jean Pollock was a very well-known painter and art educator in the 70s and 80s in Hickory. She had many students and formed a critique group called Piedmont Painters before she moved with her family to Reidsville North Carolina. Jean is 95 and still lives and paints in Reidsville.
The group has 12-16 members in the Catawba Valley Region and has continued to meet once a month for more than 40 years. We gather on the 3rd Thursday of each month at a restaurant. During our lunchtime we discuss art, exhibits in the area and educational opportunities. Following the meal the group critiques one another’s paintings one at a time offering accolades or suggestions for improving the work.
Piedmont Painters has exhibited many times in the region, and we are very grateful to be showing our work at this time with Burke Arts Council.
Also on display are fabulous spring paper flowers beautifully created by Lauren Holston Cline (The Paper Flower Market). Lauren has created everlasting blooms in a magnificently realistic fashion and stunning composition.
