Ukulele for Beginners


Students will learn all the basics necessary to succeed at playing the ukulele, including how to hold and tune the instrument, various strumming patterns, basic chords, how to read tablature, simple music theory of rhythm and scales, and easy songs to play. Each participant will need an instrument; a few ukuleles may be available to borrow. No previous experience or musical knowledge is expected. Ages 12 and up preferred.

Instructor:  Marny Pritchard has called Burke County home for over 30 years. She is the owner/instructor of 3M Studio (Ms. Marny’s Music) where she teaches piano, voice, guitar, dulcimer, and ukulele. For the past year Marny has taught the adult ukulele class, STRUMMIN’ AND HUMMIN’, at Food Matters Market and The Weathered Home.

Arts Council Members:  $40.  Non-Members:  $45 (For all four sessions).
Materials Fee:  $8
