
Mark Freeman was born and raised in Burke County and attended Burke County Public School. At age 19, he joined the U.S. Army and served 20 years in active duty and National Guard serving in combat four different times.
He graduated from Western Piedmont Community College in 2008 with a degree in Criminal Justice and again in 2015 with a degree in Professional Crafts Wood. In 2014, he won the Raymond Goodfellow Art competition in the wood category. He is a member of the Burke Arts Council; he enjoys working with the endless possibilities of what’s inside the wood.
