Kathy Rosenberger grew up with an amazing oil painter for a mother and gifted commercial artist for a father (authoring a book on drawing). Creativity flows through her veins as she implements rich color and transparent washes, expressing her passion for the world around her.
Living in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains inspires her with the grandeur of nature beckoning all around, bursting with color. She has attended a multitude of workshops all over North Carolina, as well as in New York State.
She was the recipient of the Stevens Family Scholarship in 2013. Kathy was awarded Artist in Residence at the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum in 2016 with an Alumni Week in 2017. Her work has been exhibited multiple times at the Jones House in Boone, the Watauga ArtSpace (People’s Choice Award in 2016), Caldwell Arts Council, City of Morganton offices, Grace Hospital in Morganton, the Bethlehem Library in Hickory, as well as many other venues.
When teaching elementary art for 2+ years, her goal was to pass on her love of art and create an appreciation for all art mediums in each student. The unique insights her students displayed were a delight. She passed on her love of creativity to her nine children, whom she home educated.
She now teaches adult workshops on textured mixed medium, watercolor pencils on clayboard and whimsical garden watercolors.
Watercolor is her specialty but vibrant acrylics, dramatic pastels, transparent inks and mixed media are also exciting expressions of her work. She is secretary of the Foothills Visual Arts Guild and the High Country Watermedia Society and a member of the North Carolina Watercolor Society.
“I am a student of color! Color is the reason why I am passionate about painting. My intent is not to ‘capture’ the image but to share the emotional connection of the subject with viewers. Whether a nature scene or an ordinary object, through my work I hope to help others see things differently…to linger a bit longer when seeing God’s creation, causing the viewer to enjoy life a bit more by soaking in a moment they might otherwise rush past. Stirring inspiration in others is my ultimate goal.”
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.” Psalm 19:1
