Award-winning children’s book illustrator Katie Kath will be holding the official launch party for her newest book, What a Beautiful Morning, published by Running Press Kids, at the Burke Arts Council.

Beautiful Morning is written by the esteemed Arthur Levine, who owns the Scholastic imprint Arthur A. Levine books, publisher of the beloved Harry Potter series. This book is a heartfelt story about a loving boy who, through love and song, helps his grandpa navigate the difficult road of Alzheimer’s disease.

Kirkus Reviews calls the book, “Both lovely and deeply empathetic.” The book has also received positive reviews from Publisher’s Weekly, Midwest Book Reviews, and was given a starred rating from Booklist.

Kath was excited to illustrate this book for Levine because the subject matter is especially close to her heart.  “My grandmother struggles with dementia and Alzheimer’s-related symptoms,” she says, “it felt good to illustrate a book into which I could really put a piece of myself. Books like this are special and relatable to so many people.”

In addition to Beautiful Morning, new books from Kath include Come Over to My House, written by Dr. Seuss, which will hit shelves in September, and My Kicks, by Susan Verde, to be released next year. For additional information on Kath’s books and artwork, visit ktkath.com.
