Artist Statement.

Using my hands for sewing, weaving, felting, and making baskets has been the path I have chosen for personal creative expression. Textiles are present in all the moments of our daily lives and it is the process of making something, not the product that is most interesting to me. Color, texture, and organic forms have fascinated me since my grandmother and I made doll clothes. I can still see and feel the beautiful burgundy velvet hooded cape with the dove grey silk lining that began my lifelong love of textiles. Early exploration included sewing, embroidery, and needlepoint. Then a summer in New Mexico during college opened my eyes to the weaving traditions of Native Americans. A quest began to learn to weave and forty years later I am still enjoying all the possibilities of working with beautiful yarns and fibers. New inspiration comes everyday from the magnificence of nature as I acknowledge and praise God as the divine creator of all.
